A Trustpilot review describes a company, and anyone can leave one without proving they bought anything. That open, company-level design is what makes the green stars legible to people outside the software world, and it means there is no software category to sit in, no ranking against named competitors, and no product page for a buyer who is comparing three tools that do the same job.
None of which makes Trustpilot a weak platform. As of early 2026 its free tier covered the whole review loop, including the TrustScore, a basic widget, 50 invitations a month, and replies to every review, and it has become the fifth most-cited domain on ChatGPT globally. The gap is narrower than the whole platform: Trustpilot answers whether a company can be trusted, and it does not answer which product a buyer should shortlist in a given category.
