About Alternative
A directory for alternatives to popular software and services with community-driven comparisons
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can Blastra submit my product to Alternative?
- Not yet. Alternative is on Blastra's roadmap and will be added to the supported directories in a future update. Once it goes live in the service, we'll handle submissions to Alternative the same way as currently supported directories — account setup, listing copy, and approval follow-up — without you doing extra work.
- Is Alternative free?
- Yes. Alternative is free to list on, with no paid tier or upgrade options on top. The basic profile, badge display, review responses, and analytics — whatever Alternative offers — are all included in the free listing. No catch and no upsell waiting on the other side of the form.
- Do I need reviews to get listed on Alternative?
- No, reviews are not a prerequisite. Alternative accepts customer reviews and they accumulate over time, but the listing itself goes live without them. Your review strategy on Alternative should depend on what your direct competitors in your category are doing — if they're collecting reviews actively, you should too.
- Does Alternative accept beta or waitlist products?
- Yes — Alternative doesn't require general availability. Beta and waitlist products are accepted as long as the website is live and explains what the product does. Submitting early can help build SEO presence for the product name before you officially launch into general access.
- Can I list my SaaS product on Alternative?
- Yes — Alternative accepts product listings, including SaaS, software, AI tools, and hardware. Service businesses, agencies, and consultancies won't be approved or won't fit the audience even if they get through. If you sell services, look at directories with explicit Services focus instead, like Clutch or GoodFirms.
- What types of products does Alternative accept?
- Alternative accepts all three buyer profiles: B2B (sold to other businesses), B2E (internal or employee-facing tools), and B2C (sold to consumers). That's a broad audience, which is unusual — most directories specialize in one or two. The trade-off is that listings on Alternative need to be specific enough to resonate with whichever buyer is reading; broad positioning won't work as well here.
